As your new chair, I wish to grow our conference participation and name recognition throughout the legal community. I believe we can accomplish this mission by increasing our presence on social media, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and yes even TikTok. We are upgrading our website and encourage everyone to signup and keep your contact information current. We will also have a quarterly newsletter. The CCBA newsletter will be a tool to keep you and your delegations informed with activities such as legislation day, MCLE events, etc.
I plan to offer workshops to give delegates the tools to help them draft resolutions, find authors for those resolutions and ultimately get them passed into laws. We will be hosting our first workshop on December 7, 2023, and then a follow-up workshop in January (flyers to follow). We will also be holding a meet and greet for delegation chairs to assist them in running their delegations and building membership. That workshop will be held on December 4, 2023.
Additionally, at the conference we will hold new delegation orientation. And prior to the conference we will hold workshops on how to vote remotely, participating remotely, and other technical issues, etc. I am also eager to establish a scholarship fund for small firm, solo practitioners, and lawyers with less than five years of practice who demonstrate a financial need. Additionally, we would like to continue to outreach to law students to participate in the conference and are looking into their ability to receive credit for attendance. Although, students cannot vote they can participate in the submission and debating of resolutions.
We are the grassroots organization that has the reputation for solving problems in the legal system by thoroughly vetting and debating all sides of an issue to make sure reason prevails, and therefore achieve justice through laws. I look forward to working with all of you this upcoming year, I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving and find peace, joy and happiness this holiday season.
